After taking off from Wellington we flew east and over the eastern hills with this great view of the city. It was an unusual takeoff as normally the flights to Christchurch turn off, and then head southwest instead of southeast.

The top photo is from the 20th of February. The next day there was a big fire, and the burned out portions are very visible a week later.
